The second take about Susan…..Susan thought it  funny when she meandered about the workings of her self-absorbed grey matter. She thought of it like a huge sponge soaking up all the mess in her life. And man, oh, man it was messy but in her thoughts and laughter.

And she does mean “funny-haha”.

After 50 years of Susan seeing a psychologist off and on, Susan feels even less grounded. She has a free floating feeling that she’s absolutely nuts. And maybe she is. But her psychological mentor would never say that out loud. The checks would stop coming to pay Dr. Spikelmeyer.

In case you’re curious about how she came up with such a crazy name. It came from a joke Susan gave to me, about my own son, and a whole lot of myself, with pen name. Thank goodness.

It’s hard work raising a son and that’s where Susan’s mind goes every night. Susan thinks about how her son is doing, if he’s 38 and still going on 5.

And so Susan ruminates and spins the questions of her life endlessly. There’s a belly laugh that bursts through the confusion amd makes Susan feel great. She has moments like a circus performer spinning plates. Her head. Her psyche needs peace of mind and for her to laugh with life’s absurdity . SO many questions. She has no faith that even an iota of what plagues her, especially at night will disappear or suddenly spring to still life. Comfort, NO. Questions with no answers. This is Susan’s life. And she loves it. If only there weren’t SO many questions without answers.

And she waits, for enlightenment.
